In the latest in our series of posts looking at how to save money for your pets, we look at how you can save for a new cat, dog, or rabbit when you buy or rent a home.
I bought a home in the Vancouver area, in an apartment complex near the Sea-to-Sky train station, and am looking to buy a second home in a less-expensive area.
My apartment complex has a pool for my two-year-old cat, and I like to take advantage of its spacious backyard, but my dog likes to hang out on the grassy median, and the apartment complex is not too far from the beach.
If you’re looking to save more, you can use the same rules I’ve outlined above to make sure your dog has the same access to the pool, grassy area, and dog-friendly neighborhood.
You can choose a dog-proof area to keep your cat out of, or have it have a separate space.
For the most part, I like my apartment complex’s dog-free area, but if your pet likes to play on the sidewalk outside, you may want to consider buying an additional room, and making the dog-specific access a separate unit.
It’s also a good idea to find out if there are any pet-friendly properties in your area.
If you live in an area that doesn’t have pet-specific areas, you should make sure that your pet has access to a private area where it can play and learn.
You can make the dog’s access to this area available through the condo’s pet-management program, or by purchasing an appropriate pet carrier and using it in the condo.
Find out if your dog needs a dog walkerIf you can’t get to the dog park or play area, you might be able to find a pet-proofing area, such as the dog walkers in your neighborhood.
These are small spaces that offer a view of the beach, and are often free for dogs of different sizes.
If you don’t want to spend extra on a walker, you could get one from a local pet store, or from an animal shelter.
Find out how to find pet-resistant walkersAt a dog park, you’ll probably find a lot of dog-resistant walking spots, including a large, open area in the middle of the yard, or you could find a walk-in pet room in a building that houses a dog shelter or a shelter for the disabled.
You may also find a dog agility course nearby, or a dog obedience course.
The most common place for walkers is in dog parks.
There are also dog-safe spots in homes, which are usually small spaces on the grounds where your pet lives, such the front yard, the garage, or on the street.
In the event you live outside of the dog zone, your dog might not be able access the outside areas of your house.
The most common reason dogs can’t enter your home is because of the size of the house, or the size and shape of the pet’s crate.
If your house is too large for a dog to enter, you probably need to consider renting out a dog crate, or having your pet walk inside the house.
Find dog-controlled play areasWhen you purchase a new home, or when you’re renovating an existing one, you need to ensure that your dog can play outside.
You might want to add a dog’s play area to your new home to make room for them, or to provide additional play space if you have a large dog, such a pit bull, Great Dane, or border collie.
An inexpensive, dog-in-a-play area in your new building, garage, basement, or garage that is pet-free and dog friendly.
It’s not just for dogs, either.
